Farmer

Poul is a farmer and owner of HindsholmGrisen(Hindsholm Pork), a small, organic, free range pig production site on the island of Funen, Denmark. Poul purchased a 50-acre farm, together with his wife, Carla, on the peninsula of Hindsholm, in 1995. The farm, Hesthøjgaard, is named after the neighbouring, 5000 year old Stone Age burial mound, and is situated on a rolling moraine landscape 500 meters from the coast. It became certified organic in 1999.

After a decade of cultivating seed and grain crops, Poul and Carla introduced pigs to maximize the full potential and biodiversity of their small farm. HindsholmGrisen was started with goal to make the best quality pork meat in a natural way.

Since 2010, HindsholmGrisen has received much acclaim for its way in it raises, feeds and slaughters its pigs.  The pigs are born and live outside, with acres to run, roam and root. And there, they end their good, long lives outside on the farm. This way of producing pigs has resulted in a high quality product that is sold to the private consumer and the best restaurants in the Denmark.
